Smt. Suklin Syiemlieh of Bynther Village,Mairang Sub-Division, West Khasi Hills District interested in floriculture started on her own in a very small way. Later the District Horticulture Officer, West Khasi Hills rendered her assistance through Horticulture Mission for North East & Himalayan States (HMNEH) by giving one floriculture unit of carnation. Seeing the success and the income generated through this venture, it was during the year 2011 that she expanded the floriculture unit on her own effort to grow gerbera. Her effort proved fruitful and the income generated not only support her family, but the additional income earned is a great help for her to utilise for different purposes viz. house extension etc. Fellow farmers seeing her successes were greatly challenged to take up this venture.
