The Hill Banana which is predominant in these hills have been in existence for decades together however the drawback is availability of planting materials in large numbers. Hence with the intervention of Tissue Culture methodology, the mother plants were identified and rhizomes collected and treated with chemicals and ship by air cargo to Sun Agrigenetics Vadodara for Tissue Culture multiplications. Subsequently the plantlets were sent back to us for hardening in our departmental Farm and later on planted in the farmer’s field. 30000 Nos of plants were distributed by this method. So far and the process still continues.
